Fence Board “Home” Signs – UPDATE

Since I redecorated, the sign I made for our main floor doesn’t match any longer. I had to repaint it! Like I don’t have enough to do already, right lol?

I decided to paint it in the dark burgundy colour because it is leaning on the light gray wall.

I base painted the one sign with the dark burgundy paint, the cream coloured one on the left, with the green writing and let it fully dry.

This time I decided to do the lettering on my Cricut to save some time lol! I found a nice sort of scroll-y maple leaf to replace the plaid on I painted the first time and added that to the pattern with the letters H, M and E in Design Space.

I did the usual cutting and weeding and then applied it to the base painted wood and put the twine back on for my updated HOME sign!

I spent last night having grandma time with my granddaughter and it was wonderful but boy did she wear me out lol. How did we ever keep up with our own kids way back when lol? I did get a post done beforehand but apparently forgot to change it from just being a draft lol…. here it is….

These were fun to make… and easy… just time consuming because well, the whole waiting for paint to dry thing lol.  I made one for the front porch and one for the Craft Room and I am happy with how they turned out!

Love You “Deerly” Sign

I have seen so many versions of this type of sign on Pinterest that I just had to try one for myself! I had a wall in mind to hang one… hell, I even had the piece of wood to try it… all I needed was the time and inclination lol!

It turned out this week was the week I had the time and for the most part… the inclination!!!

I had a piece of wood I picked up one of the times I was at the lumber store doing something other than just walking around sniffing the air lol…. (I love the smell of the lumber store). I think I paid around $2.00 for this piece of wood!!! It is 36″ x 12″ – 18″.

I base painted it a nice burgundy colour because it was going on a gray painted wall and I wanted it to stand out! It took about 3 coats.

I did the designs in Design Space for both the style of antlers and the wording I wanted for the sign. I couldn’t find single antlers in Design Space so I picked a pair of them and in the part of design space where you can edit the image just removed and resized one side of it. I will just have to remember to cut one as a mirror image so I have matching sides!

Once they were cut I laid everything out on the base painted wood to see how it looked the best, including the artificial flowers I picked up from the dollar store.

When everything was how I wanted it, I applied the vinyl…

Then used my (dreaded) hot glue gun to attach the flowers, added some saw tooth hangers to the back and then gave it a quick coat of sealer so it was ready to hang!

Now my sign is ready to hang once I find my little pink level lol!

All in all I am very happy with how my sign turned out and I will update the post once I find my level and actually hang the sign!

Crystal Lamp – Repurposed

Quite a while back I bought a pretty lamp through one of the auction sites I like to frequent for about $2.00. I knew I wanted to put it in the craft room but I hadn’t really decided if I was going to leave it as is, or “embellish” it lol.

I’m sure you can guess which direction I went in!

Because it was an old lamp, Chris rewired it for me before I got started. Thank you Chris lol!

I had some really nice beaded pearl “ribbon” that I thought would be perfect for the lamp, along with some off white lace, pink ribbon, a new lamp shade and my dreaded glue gun!

I started by glueing strips of the beaded pearl ribbon around each of the metal bands on the lamp.

Then I moved on to the lamp shade.

The lace I had turned out to be the perfect width for the lamp shade!

I glued it around the top of the shade, starting and stopping at the seam at the back of the shade.

Then glued a longer strip of the beaded pearl ribbon around the top, covering the edge of the lace and again starting and stopping at the seam at the back.

I put the shade back on the lamp so I could make sure it was centred before glueing a small pink bow near the top of the shade.

And this is my girly repurposed lamp for the craft room!!!

Refinished Dresser (For Craft Room)

On the weekend I decided it was time to paint this old dresser we had in the basement. I thought that once redone, it would work perfect as extra storage in the craft room and that we could pretty it up!

I am getting excited about finally getting to work on the craft room.  In my mind, I can see how it will look when it’s done… now I just have to get there! (You can see my next project on the far left…. a cat bed for Jeffy!)

I bought chalk paint through Amazon, in a sort of turquoise colour.  The paint was awesome to work with.  It was thick, meaning minimal drips, and it covered great!

Craft Room

This isn’t much of a post really, but I wanted to show you all the fabric we are going to use to cover up what I call the “pipe shelf,” and a few other things.

With the carpet being a sort of maroon/burgundy colour, we are going to paint the walls a soft blush colour.

If you recall we bought a quilt for the bed, now to be futon, so we decided on a nice light flowered fabric for the curtains that will cover that shelf/storage area!

This is It!

This is the ceiling fixture we’ve decided on.

And knobs for the drawers of the furniture we are going to refinish!

It will be so nice when it’s finally done!

It’s Craft Room time!!!

Sorry we have been absent for a few days.  I am claiming a Christmas hangover.  I have done pretty much nothing but what was absolutely required and a lot of napping but I think it’s go time again!

The other day I started to clean out the craft room.  Over the past few months it’s served more as the Christmas and wrapping room and it was a huge mess!

You can see the huge bag of pretty much recycling in one of the pictures!

I am going to start by painting the furniture.  Most of it will be done with a chalk paint finish.  I bought this colour of chalk paint from Amazon a while back.  I’m going to use it on this dresser.

For the sewing table I think we are going to go with this one. I have the sewing machine set up so it can be used but had to put a cardboard box over it until I make a cover to keep the cats out of It!

We have decided to switch from the queen size bed to a futon.  We got one with wooden arms so I think I will paint it the same as the dresser.
I have this octagonal end table I was going to make into a cat bed/table but there’s a possibility it may be painted and used in the nursery instead.

And there’s this dresser:( I’m not sure if it’s worth trying to rescue.  It was Dillons when he was a baby!

There is a lot of work to do but I’m happy it’s finally time to get going on it !

Dollar Store Craft – Cherry Blossom Clock

When I was walking around the dollar store this morning, all these cool things kept “jumping” out at me.  I had an awful time deciding what I wanted to make today.  I did end up buying stuff for more than one project but I chose to start with this one!

I chose the artificial cherry blossom branches because I know Kim loves those and the clock will be hanging in the craft room!
