If I had realized before I did the “redo” that I hadn’t actually posted the original stocking holder I would have taken a before picture!!!! That shows you where my head is at right now lol!
Let me start at the beginning then….. a few years ago I saw this really cool idea for a stocking holder on good old Pinterest and just happened to have the materials, or as good as, on hand so I enlisted Chris to help me make it! It pretty much just took some scrap wood, a fence post top, a finial, a bunch of ribbon to wrap the “post” and some coat hooks. Chris did most of the “wood” part of the holder, while I did the painting and wrapping of the ribbon.
It turned out just how intended and worked perfectly for holding our stockings. I think there is actually a picture of it in the post I did last year when I made the stocking for my little granddaughter for her first Christmas! Here is that picture…. (I had to scroll way back through memory lane for that picture lol)
This year, again with the redecorating/colour scheme change, I decided it needed an overhaul lol! I ripped off all of the original ribbon, removed the coat hooks and base painted it with the same gray paint I used on the JOY sign I made this week.
I wrapped the post with that black check ribbon I have been using for just about everything lol (I bought a 150 ft roll of it from Amazon for $15.99) after the paint dried and then put the coat hooks back on.
As a side bar to the post I did a quick sort of “How To” for making a nice bow in 3 pictures.
I made my bow and attached it to the project after it was completely dry. And here is my stocking holder….. with all the stockings I made a few years ago for everyone!
