Grinch Cookies via Natasha

I figured that since I spent the WHOLE weekend getting ALL of the Grinch Mugs ready to go to customers that I would share a recipe with everyone that I made a few years ago and were a big hit.

Grinch cookies just seemed appropriate considering lol!

I will admit that I did have a bit of an issue finding the cinnamon hearts at that time of year but when I eventually did they worked perfect for these Grinch Cookies.

I found the recipe at Natasha-Kitchen. The recipe is easy to make because it starts with a cake mix and look really cute on the cookie plates at Christmas!

Christmas Cookie Preview

Yes, I have already started to plan what Christmas cookies I am planning/hoping to make this year. I usually make at least 5 plates as gifts/hostess gifts each year so I like to try a few different things each year to change things up a bit.

I do stick to a few of the “usual” types…. gingerbread, plain shortbread, thumbprint cookies, that sort of thing but I really enjoy trying new types of cookies.

This post is to introduce everyone to some of the cookies I have come across that I want to add to my baking list this year. I am sure you will agree that they all look drool worthy!

I will include a picture and a link to the sites I found the recipes!

First one up is called Toasted Coconut Shortbread! Coconut!!! Need I say more?

Here is the link to this recipe:

Next one up are called Strawberry Truffle Kiss Cookies. They are intended for Valentine’s Day on the website but I think the colour will be a great addition to any Christmas cookie tray!

Here is the link:

Next up we have Red Velvet Kiss Cookies. These just look so decadent!

Here is the link to these cookies:

These next ones are so delicious looking! Chocolate Dipped Toffee Pecan Shortbread Cookies!

Check out these Cherry Bonbon Cookies! Don’t they look awesome????

Here is the link:

Yes, another coconut recipe lol… I love coconut!!! No Bake Coconut Snowballs!

And here is the link for this recipe:

These are just a few of the recipes I want to try this year. I could honestly do about 100 posts of Christmas cookies that look so good I want to try them… but there is only so much time and only so many cookies I can make each year so I have to pick and choose wisely lol.

I like to have a selection of flavours and colours to make the Christmas Cookie Trays look interesting!

Chocolate Mint Cream Cheese Mints

Aren’t these so cute lol?  And I have to say they taste just as good as they look.  Again these cookies will be a bright addition to our cookie trays that we hand out to family and friends/neighbours! I think these will be one of the first cookies to go off the trays!

Stained Glass Cookies

I have seen versions of this type of cookie all over the internet and wanted to try it this year….. hoping it wasn’t one of those “it’s not as easy as it looks online” projects.  It was surprisingly simple… thankfully.

These cookies look great on the cookie trays, adding a nice splash of colour to the cookies displayed and taste just as good as they look.  They taste delicious as well. The smell when cooking was a combination of cookies, green apple and cherry and the other jolly rancher candies flavours that I used. You can still taste the different flavours once they become stained glass as well!

Fruitcake Cookies

I really pondered making these again, especially with the stigma poor fruit cake seems to have. They have always reminded me of the mincemeat cookies that my mother makes.  On a plate of all kinds of cookies, these were still one of my favourites!

Maple Sugar Cookies

Phew!  What a weekend!  Saturday I cooked, carved and froze our Christmas turkey.  I made mashed potatoes and turnip for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and froze them.  Sunday I made the gravy and dinner rolls.  And I baked!!!   I made my Cherry Surprise and these Maple Sugar Cookies and I am pooped!

I have an awful cold from somewhere which has thrown a bit of wrench in things.  It meant that Kim and I couldn’t have our Baking Day because I didn’t want to end up giving it to her right before Christmas!  But I still managed to get a lot done, at least it feels like it. And Kim did some baking on her end that she will also post about! Now I can type up the posts for all of what I made!

I will try to get the posts typed up for this week!

Sprinkles Shortbread Cookies

This is the same shortbread recipe my family has been making since I was a kid at least.  I honestly don’t know where the recipe came from or from who but it’s the only recipe I have ever used to make shortbread… this year however, I decided they needed some sprinkles!
