I think I mentioned in a previous post that I have been getting into making my own cleaning products. It has been fun to experiment and even more so, knowing when I am cleaning I am not using any harmful chemicals.
I use cleaning strength vinegar for a lot of things but for some things, I like to go in other directions. I am going to make my own “Windex” in another post…. not very exciting but again, homemade and no chemicals.

Sandie
Here is what I used to make them:
- 1 cup Washing Soda
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup citric acid
- 1 cup kosher salt
- 1 cup water
- 20 drops lemon essential oil
First I whisked together the kosher salt, citric acid, washing soda and baking soda in a large bowl.
Next I added the essential oil to the water and started to pour it in. It will fizz up, so wait about 1 minutes to start mixing.

Once thoroughly combined, scoop the mixture into the ice cube trays, pressing down to flatten them.
The mixture starts to harden fairly quickly so you will need to scoop it fast.

Let the trays sit out overnight to harden.
Store in an air tight container and add one to your soap dispenser on the dishwasher and run your usual cycle.
thank you so much for this. i pay a lot of money to purchase natural dishwasher tabs. 🙂
