Cricut – Attempt #2 – Wedding Shower Card

I cannot believe how many things there are that I can make/embellish with the Cricut. One of the things that excites me most is what you can do with leather!!! I haven’t been able to try it yet because I don’t have the right mats or blade so far, but I will definitely be trying some of the leather bracelets I saw for gifts for this Christmas!!! For now….

So…. I got a bit of “play time” over the weekend to fiddle around and familiarize myself with my new Cricut. I do have to say I am very impressed. While the card isn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination, the parts where it did the cutting are awesome. The card just wasn’t what I wanted because of my own issues, not the machine itself.

I decided I also wanted to try the “write” function on it to do the wording for the front of the card but I definitely need to work on that…. size, colour, font choice, that sort of thing.

All and all thought I ended up with a cute card that will go well with the shower gift I made with my Cricut, my Embroidery Machine and a few things from the dollar store!

Here is the card….

Not terrible for a first attempt but I most certainly have a lot to learn yet lol!

Fast & Easy Pasta Side Dish

I made this a few weeks ago,  and again last night to have with dinner.

In the time it takes to cook the pasta, you can have the rest ready to throw in.

You could even add some cooked and shredded chicken and additional veggies to make this your main course.

Either way, it is a nice,  light summer side dish!

Jello & Kool-Aid Popsicles

With the hot weather here already, it is nice to have a frozen treat or two ready to beat the heat.  These popsicles are very flavourful and  almost drip free which is great when making them for the little ones! I can remember my ex mother-in-law making these every summer for my kids and their cousins.  The kids (and adults) loved them! It was that memory that prompted me to make them yesterday.

I also made my version of Iced Coffee yesterday, another great treat on a hot day!

I Got A Cricut!!!

I have been wanting to get a Cricut for ages, especially seeing all of the awesome projects all over Pinterest lol.

I got one last week, but with my grandma babysitting for the next few weeks I only got a chance to “play” on Friday… and yes, I definitely had more fun playing with my adorable little granddaughter!

I of course jumped right in after skimming the instructions and was very impressed with how my first attempts turned out.

It honestly seems to be very close in steps to my Embroidery machine.

Dillon says I should do some beginner videos to upload but I’m not sure I’m ready for that.

I am going to be sharing a lot of Cricut projects in future, so I will apologize ahead of time lol.

For today… here is a quick project I did as part of a wedding gift for our neighbors daughter and her fiance! It is just a simple plate with a vinyl decoration but I think it will be a cute addition to the “Mr. & Mrs.” basket I’m doing!

Creamy Grape Tomato and Cucumber Salad

When I was preparing dinner last night I realized that I hadn’t figured out a salad to go with it.  I knew I had a container of field grape tomatoes and a cucumber that needed to be used before I could buy anymore.  This salad is the end result of using the two of them up!

This salad uses a minimum of ingredients, is quick and easy to make and goes great with whatever you are grilling for dinner as a refreshing side!

Bacon Cheddar Ranch Burgers

I don’t know about anyone else, but with the nicer weather starting, everyone here has had a mad hankering for burgers. While the grill isn’t cleaned and ready to go yet I still made some burgers the other night and just cooked them up in the frying pan.

They were so delicious…. the first burger of the season… even thought it wasn’t cooked on the grill lol!

I know that burgers don’t generally take very good pictures…. I still took one for this post.

Stuffed Taco Burgers

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Since I am on Grandma babysitting duty this week, I thought I would share some of our favourite summer posts…. whether it be recipes or crafts, I thought a recap might be nice for this week!

This recipe is for a delicious stuffed burger!  Enjoy!

I do know it’s not burger season… not really… at least I don’t want to be standing outside, freezing my butt off bbqing something for dinner! But last week I saw a post on for cheeseburgers and it reminded me of the stuffed burger maker that Dillon bought me for Christmas and decided I would just cook some up inside and make them with fresh cut fries using the air fryer that Dillon also bought me…. hmmm… are we noticing a theme yet lol?

Homemade Glass Cleaner

Here is another “recipe” for a homemade version of window/glass cleaner for your home.

Quick and easy to make and it leaves a streak free finish!

You will need:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup cleaning vinegar
  • 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 1 tbsp. Corn starch

Mix everything together in a large measuring cup until corn starch is completely dissolved.

Pour into a dollar store spray bottle and you are all set to clean your glass, mirrors or the like… and you made it yourself!
