I know that our Thanksgiving is still a week and more away, but I like to get everything… and I mean everything done ahead of time so that I can enjoy the day. Nothing worse than hearing about your own gathering, because you were stuck in the kitchen all day cooking.
This recipe is very simple, and takes less than 15 minutes to make your own Cranberry Sauce and not the cylindrical blob of jelly “stuff” that comes out of a can!
We usually make jars of this to add to our Christmas baskets too!
Sandie
All you need to make it is a bag of fresh cranberries, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water and some grated orange peel.
Rinse the cranberries then add to medium pot with water, sugar and orange peel.
Bring to a boil over medium high heat.
Reduce heat to medium and maintain boil, while stirring for 5 – 10 minutes.
This is what it looks like about halfway through. As it’s cooking, you can hear little snaps, as the cranberries pop open.
And this is how it looks when it is cooked and thickened. The smell is wonderful when it is cooking!
I let it cool for about 5 minutes on the counter and then put it in jars or plastic containers.
Note: It freezes well, if it lasts that long! Chris likes it when I use the leftovers to add to my apple crisp recipe for a really delicious Apple Cranberry crisp!

Home made cranberry sauce is so amazing, I can’t even look at the canned stuff from the store anymore.
