Recycled Cans Crafts – Part #1

I think this is going to be a crazy week!  There are so many things I need and want to get done before Friday!  I have 2 Dr’s appointments scheduled for Friday too… what was I thinking?  A house full of company on Saturday and I will be gone all day Friday! Help lol!

This week I have finally managed to accumulate enough tin cans from my recycling to do a few crafts!  I can’t believe how long it took to get enough.  Today I started base painting them all.  Have I ever mentioned how much I hate waiting for paint to dry?

This is the collection of cans I started with!  All laid out on plastic so that I can get them base painted and ready to go!

Today I am working on a Canada Day Wind Sock to hang in my mailbox garden for our Canada day bbq!

I started out by painting the can solid white.  It took a few coats to cover but it finally covered.

Now I needed to draw and then paint on a Maple leaf.  Obviously I painted that red lol.

I put 3 or 4 coats of sealer on it to protect it even though this one won’t be directly in the elements.

I punched a hole in the bottom of the can so that I could thread some ribbon through to hang it with.

And then to finish it, I used my dreaded glue gun and glued lengths of ribbon, gluing them to the inside of the can!

And here is my finished Canada Wind Sock to hang for our BBQ!
