Amazon A-Store

I don’t know about you but I am completely addicted to! There is nothing better than being able to do the majority of your shopping from home, in your pajamas and have it delivered to your door… a lot of the time in just a few days! I purchase everything from wool for my knitting/crocheting projects to toilet paper (yes, they even deliver TP) to my Christmas and other occasion shopping.

Amazon offers a personal e-store page to their affiliates/associates.  You can choose the categories, you can choose sub-categories and you choose what items you want in your “store.”  If you are already an Amazon Associate, set up is really easy.  Other than adding items to you store, it doesn’t take more than a few minutes.

With that in mind, I opened an Amazon A-Store last night.  We will try to keep up to date on it.  For now we have a selection of items relevant to what we have and are planning on posting…whether it be wool, sewing items, items you use in the kitchen to home décor items that have caught our eye!

As usual, I got lost browsing for items to add to our store.  On Amazon, there are so may items it’s easy to get lost or off track because there is always something to catch your eye!

Please follow the link to our store below and see how great the Amazon A-Store pages are!  Happy shopping!

Best Ever Banana Bread

In our home I can make this recipe (which makes 2 loaves !!!) one day and I swear it is gone in less than two days!  My family has always loved banana bread and I think what does it for this one is the buttermilk.

This recipe is delicious and very easy to make.  One tip though… that I learned the hard way… if your bananas are still a bit solid, mash them with a fork a bit before you attempt to do it with your stand or hand mixer, unless you would like pieces of banana literally all over your kitchen! Freezes great!

Me Vs. Yeast

For YEARS I tried to make bread with yeast.  It didn’t matter what I did, what sort of flour, yeast or whatever I used, I could not master the art of making bread.  I did finally give up on it for many years.  Then… I/we discovered Pinterest.  The number of delicious looking bread recipes on there brought out the desire to try again.

Did it work?  Nope, not even close.  Same problems as before…it was tough, it didn’t rise, the inside was rubbery and just plain inedible.  It was awful.  I finally accepted the fact that I would never be able to make fresh bread (unless you count those frozen logs you can buy at the grocery store.)

Then one Christmas, my husband and kids surprised me with a brand new, shiny, beautiful, best appliance ever!  I was given a KitchenAid Stand Mixer.  I was a bit scared.  I had seen them, but never used one.  I did the usual cookies, muffins, quick breads and stuff like that, and then something in the back of my head said, “Hey, why don’t you try making bread in that thing?”  So I did!

I FINALLY conquered yeast…yes, it was with help, but I did it.  The bread dough was beautiful and soft and for lack of a better word, doughy, not something that looked like a flour coloured rock!  It would appear that I either wasn’t kneading it properly or long enough.

The moral of this story/blog post?  Don’t give up on yeast.  You are missing the mouthwatering (and I mean drool worthy) smell of fresh bread baking in YOUR oven, the taste of your very own freshly baked bread fresh out of the oven and the adoration of your family when you actually allow them a taste of it!

Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn

I love wool.  It doesn’t matter what kind, I love it. But… and yes, that’s definitely a but…I now have a favourite!  Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn. It is the softest and easiest to knit/crochet I think I have used, and because it is super thick, it makes up very fast.  I have used worsted, chunky, baby, those fancy scarf wools, you name it, I have made something from it at some point.

If you knit or crochet, you really need to do a project with this wool.  You will thank me for the recommendation! I have made numerous things with it  including slippers for Kim for Christmas, I have crocheted a baby blanket with it and now I am in the middle of a full size blanket/afghan! I am even  thinking that full size blankets will make perfect Christmas gifts for everyone for Christmas 2017.

(I will attach a picture of the blanket I am in the middle of now!)

Wood/Paint Sealer

Have you ever finished a painting or wood project, having spent hours or even days getting it just right,  only to have the sealer you use pretty much destroy the project?  I certainly have.

There are either brush marks or its “splotchy” or there is just not enough or too much shine. Do you know that feeling? I cant count how many different brands and kinds of sealer I’ve tried, but to no avail.

That is,  until I found Wood Shield by Beauti-Tone.  It goes on smooth, there are no brush marks,  it dries quickly and the one I used is acrylic, so you can clean your brushes with water.  I absolutely love every project I’ve finished with this sealer! We liked how it works so much that we used it for seal our new wooden screen door and were more than happy with the outcome!

So, if you are looking for a new sealer to finish your latest project, check it out!
